I don’t stop for juice on a regular basis although I do see it’s value especially if one cannot fathom eating 9-13 servings of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis (heavier on the veggie side with this numbers), or just doesn’t eat that many. And ideally we WOULD eat all of our nutriens. Sometimes I simply don’t feel like making a salad or eating one for that matter which is when I stop for a juice. The other time I stop.and grab a juice is when I really feeling like I haven’t had enough fruits or veggies, or if I need an upper!
Today was one of those days I stopped for juice but I had to alter my order as I generally get the Ginger Greens at Juice Bar of Louisville. Instead of the traditional recipe I had them remove the apple and replace with additional cucumber. Cool, crisp and refreshing!
One thing though that I have learned when it comes to juice:
You must chew your juice!
As silly as it sounds, the digestive enzymes are not secreted in stomach until they are released in the mouth and to really get them going in the mouth, you must move the mouth in a chewing fashion. This will in turn allow for optimal digestion of your juice. The same must take place with smoothies and protein shakes as well.
Happy chewing & happy juicing!
Find your light…over and over and over again!
